Unlike other states that have legalized recreational marijuana for adults...
Florida's Amendment 3 has guardrails to ensure:
Public spaces will remain smoke-free, with the same restrictions as tobacco.
There will be laws to enforce against smoking in undesignated areas.
Legalization will allow "No Smoking" rules to be established and enforced.
Just as I worked diligently in the Florida Legislature to ban smoking at our state's public beaches, I am committed to ensuring our public spaces remain smoke-free."
- Republican Florida State Senator Joe Gruters
When my family visits Orlando theme parks or Miami beaches, I don’t want my kids exposed to the smell or sight of marijuana. The proposed amendment makes eminent sense to me because it allows adults to use marijuana in private while preserving the legislature’s authority to ban its use in public."
- John Bash, Noted Constitutional Attorney
When Amendment 3 passes, adults who choose to consume marijuana will be safer as a result because simple cannabis products, legally purchased won’t contain those dangerous additives. My deputies won’t have to spend our limited resources on arresting or otherwise prosecuting adults for simply possessing or consuming small amounts of marijuana. This will allow us to focus on preventing serious violent crimes or crimes involving deadly drugs like cocaine, fentanyl and meth.”
- Sheriff Morris Young, Gadsden County
The less government Republican in me knows that passing Amendment 3 is the right thing to do. More freedom also means less government interference in the lives of adults and fewer tax dollars wasted on unnecessary arrests and prosecutions for simple possession of marijuana. Let’s support freedom, less government and lower taxes – let’s support Amendment 3!”
- Former Republican Florida State Senator Brandes
